With light shining on his face and wearing a fine striped shirt, Wilson Bigaud portrays himself with great optimism. This work is dated 3/5/56. In the fall of 1957, Bigaud would have his first (of several) breakdowns which prevented him to paint with the control he was known for. The most evident was his inability to paint shadows in a masterly way, post breakdown.
